Recipe: Meat Sandwhich

Back to other recipes

Ingredients:
Meat (I usually use chicken, roast beef, or steak)
Green Peppers and/or Onions (opt)
Philly Cream Cheese (or mayo if you don't have it, much better with this though)
French Roll, 6" (regular bread gets moist too easily)
Soy Sauce
Lettuce, Fresh spinach, or some similar greens
Fresh Green Beans - chopped to ~2" ea (opt)
Cheese (grated)
Seasonings -
I usually use Garlic, dried onions, and parsley or some kind of herbs

Directions:
slice meat into strips of some manageable length and cook them in a pan with a decent lip (1+ inches high) with the dried onions and herbs (don't forget to grease the pan beforehand). Set meat aside once mostly cooked. Add water (maybe half and inch or less), garlic, and soy sauce. Bring to a slight boil. Stir in geen peppers and/or onions, the greens (lettuce and beans and such). Stir slowly for a minute or so then add meat. Top with lid and let sit for a few minutes. Stir occasionally over ~ 7minute duration or until all greens are soft enough for a sandwhich (beans may never get there). Lower heat to simmer and drain liquids very well (the more drained, the better). Place back on heat with sauted items separated into sections for sandwhiches and sprinkle cheese on top. Toast bread and then spread cream cheese on bread. Plop a section on the bread and enjoy.

This is something I made up to try and use my mother's greens from her garden this year and my costco bag of chicken. It works really well and I was surprised at how good the green beans tasted in it!

Note: Has a somewhat salty taste due to the soy sauce.
